Goldcliff School was built in 1872. Sitting alongside Monksditch, at the boundary of Goldcliff and Whitson, it closed in 1954. Following local government reorganisation in the 1970s, ownership of the School passed to Newport County Borough Council (now Newport City Council) who leased the School Room (and the surrounding play grounds) to Goldcliff Community Council for community use.
The Room is used regularly by the following organisations (contact details for further information follow):

The Community Room is also used for adhoc events such as Coffee afternoons/evenings, Benefice meetings and as a Polling Station during elections. The Community Room is usually available without charge within the community and is a suit venue for a child’s birthday party or small meeting. The lease does not permit any commercial activity to be carried out there.
There is a small private car park at the front of the building (the former School playground) which can accommodate up to 6 cars and is available for use by people attending events.
